A typical day on the river

Updated: Nov 9, 2021

Our trips proceed at a leisurely pace with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, wildlife, and each other's company. In general we aim to paddle about 6-10 miles each full day.

Wake up and enjoy coffee and breakfast at a relaxed pace on the beach. We do a group stretch to keep our bodies limber and fresh and a simple meditation exercise to focus our thoughts for the day. Practicing Leave No Trace etiquette, we always strive to leave our campsite better than we found it as we pack up our tents and load the canoes.

Paddle for a few hours in the morning before finding a good spot for a lunch break and siesta by early afternoon. This is also a great time to just relax or read a favorite book.

In the afternoon we paddle another stretch and find a beach for our camp site a couple hours before sunset.

Rotating each evening, a different group will help prepare the evening meal while the others set up camp. This is a chance to learn camp cooking skills and equipment. We share a communal evening meal and reflect on the challenges and rewards of the day. At the end of the day nothing is better than sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying a campfire on the beach as the stars come out.

Now imagine this peaceful scene being repeated four days in a row! Absolute bliss. All the tours are four days and three nights. All the tours are fully outfitted with all gear, equipment, food, and me as your guide :). you don't need to bring much besides your toothbrush.
