My first week on the job this season I had a trip patrolling down the Green River inside the park with three River Rangers.
Access to the Green river is the main reasons I accepted the job offer from the National Park Service this season. the idea of rowing an 18ft long inflatable raft down one of the most pristine and scenic rivers in the National Park system had me sold.
I hope to get out for overnight trips on the green and Yampa river every other week or so. The other half of my job is land based where i issue float permits and administer the lottery system for hopeful boaters. Each year about 18,000 permit applications are filled. only 3 permits are issued each day. Those lucky few get to raft the Green or Yampa. and I get to be the one to tell them :)
when I get back down south I will start leading guided canoe tours again in November. All the trips are four days and three nights on a spectacular river. Sleeping under the stars, eating great meals, and meeting amazing people. All the tours are fully outfitted with all gear, equipment, food, and me as your guide :)
As always if you have questions or ideas about the trips shoot me a message here w the contact form or on Instagram @bd_markey
Hope to see you on the river,
